rundaddio is a long-time rambler who, after decades of pounding the pavement of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, recently migrated to northern Westchester in search of new roads and trails. He began running when Jim Fixx, waffle soles, and Bill Rodgers racing in cotton gardening gloves was all the rage. In college he alleviated stress about the lack of a coherent thesis on his honors project by running at night through rain or snow on a track once used by Steve Prefontaine. A children’s book editor in his day job, he has edited two books about running (this one and that one), and also organizes a company running club. He has endured too many marathons to remember which was the most miserable experience. He trudges on week after week, year after year, because he can’t help it and wouldn’t want to, even if he could.
